Pattaya Day 1: Swensen's Ice Cream, Cafe Amazon and Walking Street
Hi friends! Today I want to share our first day in Pattaya. After Bangkok, the first thing I noticed about Pattaya was how much easier the weather felt. It is still hot, of course, but compared to Bangkok, the humidity is noticeably lower. That makes walking around the beach area, taking short breaks and enjoying the city much more pleasant.
Our Pattaya day 1 route was simple but full: a nice breakfast, a walk near the beach, a Cafe Amazon break, a short rest at the hotel, then Swensen's RGP Pattaya for ice cream and finally Walking Street at night. The biggest highlight of the day, without a doubt, was the ice cream.
Starting the Day With a Turkish Breakfast
Since we had not eaten Turkish food for a while, we wanted to start our first day in Pattaya with a proper breakfast. Thai street food, noodles, rice dishes and desserts are all great, but after some time you naturally start missing familiar flavors.
So we began the day with something calm, filling and a little closer to home. On travel days with lots of walking, a good breakfast really makes a difference. In a city like Pattaya, where the days are hot and the nights are lively, getting enough energy early in the day is important.
Pattaya Beach Area: Easier Weather Than Bangkok
After breakfast, we walked around the beach side of Pattaya. My first impression was clear: Pattaya's heat is much easier to handle than Bangkok's. In Bangkok, the humidity can make even a short walk feel tiring. In Pattaya, the sea breeze and lower humidity make spending time outside much more enjoyable.
The beach area feels like a mix of holiday town and classic Thai chaos. On one side you have the sea; on the other side, cafes, malls, tourists, taxis and motorbikes. From the first day, Pattaya makes it obvious that it is a very lively place.
Cafe Amazon Break: Affordable Drinks With a View
After a long walk, we wanted to rest for a bit and stopped at Cafe Amazon. This coffee chain appears frequently in Thailand, and it is a very good option in terms of price and performance.
Just when I thought it could not get much cheaper, we found a huge glass of iced chocolate for around 100 TL. The portion was big, and in Pattaya's warm weather it tasted even better. We enjoyed our drinks with a nice view and took some time to recharge.
When you are exploring Pattaya, these short breaks make the day much more comfortable. Especially around midday, sitting in an air-conditioned cafe for 20 or 30 minutes can bring all your energy back.
A Short Hotel Break Before the Evening
After Cafe Amazon, we returned to the hotel, had our meal and rested for a while. Later in the evening, we felt like having something sweet. A friend we met at the hotel pool recommended an ice cream place inside the nearby mall: Swensen's.
Normally, I do not set my expectations too high for ice cream, but the recommendation was so confident that we decided to try it. I am very glad we did.
Swensen's RGP Pattaya: One of the Best Ice Creams I Have Ever Had
In the evening, we went to Swensen's RGP Pattaya. For around 266 TL, you can get a large and very satisfying ice cream portion. At first, the price may seem a little high compared to some other options in Thailand, but when you consider the portion size, quality and taste, it absolutely feels worth it.
Honestly, it was one of the best ice creams I have ever eaten. The flavor, texture and quality of the ingredients were genuinely noticeable. The ice cream had that rich but not overwhelming consistency, the sauces were balanced, and the presentation was generous.
If you are looking for dessert or ice cream in Pattaya, I can easily recommend Swensen's. If you are around Royal Garden Plaza, it is also very easy to reach. In Pattaya's warm weather, this kind of ice cream feels like the perfect reward at the end of the day.
Walking Street: Pattaya's Most Famous Nightlife Spot
After the ice cream, we went to Walking Street, one of Pattaya's most famous spots. It is a very interesting place. Just like some streets in Turkey are filled with jewelry shops lined up one after another, Walking Street is full of nightclubs, bars and entertainment venues lined up side by side.
There is music, bright lights, crowds and constantly changing energy everywhere. If you are curious about Pattaya's nightlife, this is one of the places you should see at least once. We also entered one of the venues and spent some time there. We did not even notice how quickly the hours passed; by the time we returned to the hotel, the night had already turned into morning.
Walking Street may not be for everyone, but it is definitely an important stop if you want to understand Pattaya's character. Even just walking through the street and observing the atmosphere is a different experience.

Final Thoughts
Our first day in Pattaya turned out to be much fuller than we expected. Easier weather compared to Bangkok, a beach walk, an affordable cafe break, truly high-quality ice cream and a night that quietly turned into morning on Walking Street... Pattaya showed us its energy from day one.
For me, Swensen's RGP Pattaya was the star of the day. If you visit Pattaya and want to try a really good ice cream, you can add this place to your list. Stay tuned for more Pattaya posts and videos. If you have any questions, feel free to write them in the comments. Take care!
