What Is Talkamble? Turn a Walk Into a Conversation

You step outside for a walk. Your headphones are ready, your phone is in your pocket, and the road ahead will take about half an hour. You could play music or a podcast. Some days, though, neither is what you want. You want to hear a real person.

Talkamble grew from that small, familiar moment. It connects two people who are walking at the same time for a voice conversation that both of them choose to accept.

The promise is not “spend more time online.” It is the opposite: put the phone away, keep walking, and talk.

How does Talkamble work?

The core flow has three steps:

  1. Start your walk.
  2. See the profile of someone who is currently walking and matches your language and preferences.
  3. If both people accept, the voice conversation begins.

The details matter. Talkamble is not looking for someone who is merely online; it is designed around people who are actually moving. Motion and step signals are evaluated on the device, while your precise location is never shown to another person.

Once the conversation starts, the screen can go dark. Your phone can stay in your pocket while you continue walking. If either person stops, the conversation pauses. That keeps the product tied to its original purpose: this is not another chat room meant to stay open on the sofa for hours.

Why voice instead of text?

Typing while walking divides attention and breaks the rhythm of the walk. We look down for every sentence and squeeze a living conversation into a stream of message bubbles.

Voice carries more. A hesitation at the end of a sentence, the short silence after a joke, or the small sound that tells you the other person is genuinely listening cannot be reproduced by an emoji.

Talkamble also deliberately avoids video. Video pulls attention back to the screen and to how we look on it. With voice, your eyes stay on the road, your hands stay free, and the conversation stays at the centre.

What makes it different from anonymous chat?

Hearing “talk to someone new” may bring anonymous chat apps to mind. That is not the product Talkamble is trying to become.

People use persistent, signed-in profiles. Before a call begins, you see limited details such as display name, age and city. Matching considers an active walk, a shared language and your preferences. Most importantly, a conversation starts only after both people accept.

The goal is not to drop people into an uncontrolled room. It is to give each person enough context and control to begin a brief, respectful conversation.

Why can walking make a first conversation easier?

When two people sit across a table, a quiet moment can feel heavy. On a walk, there is already a shared action. Your steps create a natural rhythm beneath the conversation, and silence feels less like failure because you are both still moving.

There is also a clear frame. Instead of wondering whether the conversation is supposed to last forever, you know that it belongs to this walk. That can make a first meeting feel lighter.

You do not need a remarkable opening line either:

  • What made you go for a walk today?
  • What is your favourite route in your city?
  • What small thing surprised you recently?
  • Do you prefer music or silence while walking?

Good conversations rarely begin with a performance. They begin with mutual curiosity.

You remain in control

In a social voice product, control cannot be buried at the bottom of a policy page. It needs to be visible in the flow.

Talkamble is built around persistent accounts, profile review before a call, mutual acceptance, hidden precise location, one-tap ending, reporting, blocking and in-app account deletion. A blocked account cannot match with you again.

No system can remove every chance of bad behaviour. A responsible product gives people clear boundaries and immediate ways to leave.

Who is Talkamble for?

Talkamble is not a “loneliness app.” It is simply another kind of company for anyone who sometimes walks alone.

You may have moved to a new city. You may work from home and hear very few voices during the day. You may walk the same route every evening and not want another podcast. Or you may be curious about what a good twenty-minute conversation with someone outside your usual circle might feel like.

The best part is that every call does not have to become a permanent friendship. Sometimes a conversation is valuable precisely because it accompanied one walk and then ended naturally.

When will Talkamble be available?

The first iPhone release is currently being prepared for the App Store. I do not want the website to pretend that the app is downloadable before the store listing, privacy disclosures and review flow are complete, so it currently says Coming soon to the App Store.

You can see the real screens, product flow and current release status on the Talkamble page. The download link will appear there when the app is live.

If you want to hear a person instead of starting another playlist on your next walk, Talkamble is being made for that exact moment.
